If there was a crown for the hiphop game, “Prince” is ILY Truly’s first crown jewel when he ultimately takes the throne for himself. His debut album shows some of his influences, Ƭ̵̬̊ (Prince) and Juice Wrld, while giving his own modern 2020s input. I’m reminded of a trend lately; the 80s are back! And I’m all for Truly leading the charge!
We start with “I Know One Thing” and it was a CWHipHop exclusive for a few months before its release. It shows a great mixture between Heartbreak and upbeat while remaining chill. The lyrics of this project heavily reflect the emotions of ILY Truly and how he processes them after a breakup. This is highlighted in “Hopeless Romantic” and “No Way Girl,” from feeling hopeless about the situation to reclaiming your heart when it is all said and done. The song that comes to mind when mentioning the 80s vibe is “Can’t Let You Leave” even though the elements are all over this album. It’s great to see after having your heart broken, Truly shows how important it is to be your authentic self, move on and try love again with songs “Me” and “Young Forever.” Message ILY Truly on social media to let him know how you like this project!
