Some artists put a lot of thought into their artist name; some go with the first one that comes to mind. Can you tell the reader how did you land on yours?
Bluejacket is my actual middle name! It’s from Shawnee heritage and was my grandma’s maiden name. Bluejacket was a war chief. He has his own Wikipedia page.
If this is someone’s FIRST introduction to you as an artist, how would you describe your music?
All depends on the song since I’m very versatile and use all types of different beats. I truly like to think all my songs are Bluejacket originals and that I am hard to compare to any other artist.
What year did you start your music journey? Who or what inspired you?
I started making music in 2014 when my two HS friends got me into writing lyrics, from there I was very inspired by Eminem, Tech N9ne, Mac Miller, Hopsin, Kid Cudi and Chris Webby.
Did you have a goal when starting music? Is it the same goal you have today?
The same exact goal. Inspire creation and have as many people as possible enjoy my music.
Thinking back to your youth, what kind of music did you hear playing around you? And how do you think these artists impacted the music you create?
The first music I ever remember listening to was in my Dad’s car off CDs his coworker would burn for him. There was a lot of System of a Down and cool chill rock bands that absolutely influenced my style down the road. Hip hop is the easiest music to make so once I got that down, I really tried to branch out into more indie stuff and rock.
If you could point the listener to one of your songs to listen to after reading this interview, what song would you direct them to?
“Too much” because even Channing Tatum likes that song (he shared it on his insta story).
Can you describe your creative process of creating music? Do you write the hook first? Where do you find inspiration for your lyrics?
I find a beat and sit down in my studio and just let my brain take over kinda.
