Some artists put a lot of thought into their artist name; some go with the first one that comes to mind. Can you tell the reader how did you land on yours?
Not gone lie, it was kinda hard finding a name I wanted to stick with. My first couple names just didn’t fit me or weren’t drawing enough traction… Then I thought of EricWithTheGlockInHisSock was unforgettable & authentic. I knew I would have to compete for a spot on the internet to claim myself or my name. I’m literally a 1 of 1, got the name because growing up I would go hoop with my gun in my tub sock for protection in the areas I grew up in like The Meadows, McGovern Park, etc. I kinda drew inspiration from the length of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and NBA Youngboy had…
If this is someone’s FIRST introduction to you as an artist, how would you describe your music?
I would describe it as fun and catchy. You might not like it on first listen, but I guarantee you if you here the melodies or really listen to it, it’s bound to get stuck in your head… Based off my most popular tracks, you won’t be able to tell I’m from Milwaukee, but then again, you can hear the Milwaukee inspiration within the track itself or my flow/lyrics.
Who are your top 3 artists in any order, in any genre?
The Weeknd, Lil Yachty, Drake
Simply put, The Weeknd introduced me to the fact that I like music itself, and I was no longer just a listener. The way he came up inspired me…He blew up off shear talent and no one knew what he looked like at first, his earlier videos was some high-pitched vocals over a type of vampire stripper music.
Lil Yatchy was different. Something about his music still till this day stands out. The guys talented asab. Say what you want about Miles, but he might just be more versatile than your favorite artist. Watch the Keep Sailing documentary, it pivoted my outlook on his music.
What would you say is your Greatest Accomplishment to date?
My greatest accomplishment would have to be making it to the commercial radio (Hot 105.7 , V100.7, Various College Stations.)
Or Having My Music Videos Released On Vevo… “If ya know you know”…
What genre of music would you create if you didn’t create HipHop/Rap music?
Honestly, it would be Pop, for sure. I feel like I have a vocal range that I can tap into that makes it fairly easy to breakout into the genre…. But realistically, I guess I’d go with RnB.
Can you describe your creative process of creating music? Do you write the hook first? Where do you find inspiration for your lyrics?
Usually I find the beat first which is tedious because I’m really selective about the beats I choose because I have to really feel myself completely running through the whole beat without feeling as if I’m going to only give 50% or lose excitement for the track itself…
After that I found the melody by humming. If I can hum made-up characters the whole song, then I know from there lyrics can just come naturally. Honestly, my lyrics come from my mood and my experiences… I literally go throughout life tryna to experience as much as I can to draw inspiration.
If you could point the reader to one of your songs to listen to after reading this interview, what song would you direct them to?
Definitely would be my unreleased On The Radar (freestyle) because it’s gone be my biggest song to date. Although it’s not a serious track, the push behind it / visuals and platforms I utilized to put it in front of more people, I just feel like it’s gonna be everywhere… and it’s gonna elevate me to the next level.
