Lately, I feel like I’ve been working more, hanging out with friends less, and I’m not alone in feeling that way. 2hi released his EP “HEY GANG!” to reconnect with his fans and let them know what he’s been up to since he last dropped. Rumor has is that if you listen to “HEY GANG!,” you are an honorary member of 2hi’s crew! We start the project with “WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND?” It has a slightly menacing beat with some horns baked in, giving it a flavor of eeriness. 2hi gives us a window into his mind on some things he might not always show on the surface level. Deep down, we all have some aggression we want to release, and this track allows you to let it out of your system. “BACKDOOR” follows the story of barging into someone’s home through the backdoor. The beat is similar to an elevated heartbeat that would be present if you’re chilling at home and an unexpected visitor is now in your kitchen. His vocals over this beat fit the theme of being quiet in the dead of night, somewhat tired, and not as bold, so you will only catch some things going on the first spin. Moving to the middle track, “DEATBEAT,” it’s an upbeat track that sounds like church bells are going off at midnight. He describes what it’s like to be in the trap house with the gang. It has all the activities you’d imagine, and he makes it clear that everyone in the trap gets a piece of the pie when the house eats. The second to last song, “NEW STICK,” captures what it’s like to possess something new. Whatever it may be, the power you feel from owning something brand new can be intoxicating. 2hi’s “NEW STICK” has him feeling in control, doing what he wants and pleases. “ALL GOOD” is the sign-off message of how it’s been since you last heard new music from 2hi.
