WI STAND UP! SGthe1st has a new installment of “Gangstas, Gamers, and Everyone In Between” with Vol. 3. This album was named true to its nature, as it can pull anyone listening into the music. His lyrics are dense with meaning, and his claims of being a ‘Heavy-Spitter’ are showcased in these ten songs! SG’s wordplay and cadence combination make this one of the most turnt albums to come out of the state in 2022! We start with the track “Moore Bars,” the beat sounds Kanye West inspired with the vocal tracks baked into the boom bap beat. The best way to describe the impression I got when listening to this track was standing on the edge of greatness, and it sets up the rest of this album perfectly! There was a unique concept done over the two tracks “Coming For Me” (Dark) and (Light), where he duplicates the hook on two separate instrumentals while rapping about the two sides of himself, Gangsta and Gamer. I respect the out-of-the-box idea of trying something like this in an album. One of my favorite tracks off the album, and a long-time exclusive on the radio at CWHipHop, was “Inner G,” as it packs so much hype and ENERGY in just two minutes and 45 seconds. Even though he’s got hype stitched into this project, he has a lot of chill Stoner references spread throughout these songs. While he has the delivery and tone of a gangster, he has many Gamer/Nerd references you can also hear from NPCs in video games to Wolverine in the X-Men Series. SG carries a lot of confidence and pride in his home state of Wisconsin. The song “Connects” could be an Anthem of Wisconsin HipHop as he talks about topics native to the state like the Packers and about making music connections around the Sco, such as the feature on this track JediMiiz. There is so much jam-packed in this album, so make sure you give “Gangstas, Gamers and Everyone In Between, Vol. 3” a couple of listens, then message SGthe1st on social media to tell him what you think about it!
